A day at the seaside: San Francisco's Sutro Heights, Cliff House, and Sutro Baths

Adolph Sutro wanted to make San Francisco's Pacific seaside accessible to all of the city's residents. To do this, he built a railroad; an elaborate, glass-covered Victorian bath house; the Cliff House, a luxurious dining and dancing spot; and lush, sculpture-studded gardens. This book includes some of the best photographs of these creations, drawn from Bay Area archives, and the text puts them in the context of their times.
