Understanding Each Other After 9-11: What Everyone Should Know about the Religions of the World

We all come from one source and share one destiny, yet from our commonality emanates a vast array of cultures, civilizations, and beliefs. Nonetheless, we are more alike than different, and it has been a triumph of humanity that our sense of otherness is slowly dwindling. The tensions we've experienced since 9-11 arise from a lack of basic knowledge of the world s major religions. This survey explores our diversity of faiths in hopes of helping us find our way to greater unity. Understanding other religions expands our sense of global community, allowing us to join together to face our collective future. Religion may well kindle conflict, but it can also help diminish our sense of difference, enable us to live in harmony, and enrich our personal experience by allowing us to touch the experience of the billions of people of different faiths with whom we share our planet.
