From the Forward: "It was not long after Marie MacDonald's death that the staff at Active Aging began hearing from some of her many friends and admirers. They wanted to know when we were going to publish a collection of her columns. ....It was not easy to decide just how to go about this. Marie had written thousands of words in her Moments Column. There wasn't room for them all....When Marie started the column, she said what she wanted to do was write about individuals, and do it in such a way that people who were strangers would feel they were meeting one another through the column. And such was her sensitivity and liking for humanity in general that she was able to accomplish just that....What remains are the more general aspects of Marie's Moments: her philosophizing. her story-telling abut episodes in her active and varied life, her observations about what was going on around her. all told in her unique style of unadorned language and genuine affection for people."
