The World War II destroyer was a splendid ship if its speed and maneuverability were in the hands of a capable captain.
Such a man is Captain Alden Sorenson who assumes command of the USS Carson, which steams into the South Pacific in 1943 to support the fast carrier operations and the allied landings on New Guinea and Morotai.
