Power on the back benches?: The growth of select committee influence (SAUS study)

Are back-bench MPs snatching back power and influence through the select committee system? This study looks in depth at the committee system and offers an account of its development and relationship to other aspects of the policy process. Participants in the process, from MPs and advisers to lobbyists and civil servants, provide insights into the working practices of the committee corridor and contribute to a discussion of the propensity for back-bench influence on Executive performance.
