The strikingly atmospheric and often spectacular photographs, specially commissioned for this book, are by Leo Meier, one of the country's leading photographers. Together they have created a book that will delight those who live in Australia's cities and provide evocative memories for those who visit them. Leo Meier is acknowledged as one of Australia's leading photographers. His work has been featured in a wide range of magazines and journals as well as a number of books including Australia the Beautiful Wilderness, Rainforests of Australia and Daintree. His technical expertise comes from training and long experience in printing, graphic arts and process photography. Since migrating to Australia from Switzerland in 1972 he has worked as a photographer for a number of organisations and for a period was in charge of the photographic unit of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of New South Wales. He has been closely identified with the Conservation Movement in Australia and has served as Staff Photographer with the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service. His work has won a number of prizes in national competitions and has been exhibited in the Sydney National Exhibition of Photography." (from inside jacket)
