Fran and her step-cousin William spent an idyllic childhood at Benedict's, Fran's grandfather's house in Old Swithinford. Now widowed, Fran is hankering to go back to home ground when she learns that Benedict's is up for sale. While overseeing it's restoration, Fran renews old acquaintances and forms new ones. But it is Fran's relationship with William that takes on a new dimension, and they are drawn ever closer.
