Upgrade

Upgrade is a lower intermediate course designed for young adults, especially those who need to use English-language resources as part of a higher education course. The Course Book consists of 15 topic-based units and three review units. Each of the main units is split into the following sections: ; Introduction - presenting the unit topic and relevant vocabulary through multi-skills work ; Language in focus - concentrating on specific language points (both grammatical and functional) ; Skills in focus - listening and speaking skills development and practice ; Skills in focus - reading and writing skills development and practice ; Study tip - giving essential advice on independent learning techniques ; Language review - revising the language of the unit The Activity Book consists of 15 units that correspond closely to the Course Book in terms of level, topic and content. There is extensive practice of grammar and vocabulary, as well as more skills work and extra study tips and advice on independent learning techniques. The Activity Book can be used in class, for homework tasks or as a self-study aid. It contains original material that can form the basis of new lessons, focusing particularly on the skill of reading. The Teacher's Book contains detailed teaching notes for the Course Book lessons. There is also a complete tapescript and photocopiable tests.
