Bound together by their weekly knitting circle, Carrie, Velma, Gwen and Shirley supported one another through the bleak years of World War II. Through good times and bad they kept each other's spirits up, taking comfort in their unique bond of friendship. Now at last their husbands have come home, but it's not easy adjusting to married life again - and two of the women have painful secrets to hide.
