Nine chapters address the frames/wheels/axles and bogies, cylinder and valve gear, steam and exhaust pipe connections, the boiler, boiler fittings, the burner, the tender, and the superstructure. The author wanted the project to be accessible to beginners so the functional parts are simplified and reduced to a minimum consistent with satisfactory working. The model is based on a 4-6-0 LMS Class 5 mixed traffic locomotive and has information on how to modify it to become a Great Western locomotive. 84 pages.
