The Metropolitan Line : An Illustrated History

This book tells another tale of dismal financing as it traces the history of the Metropolitan Line - the very first 'tube' - from the opening of the original Metropolitan Railway in January 1863 to its important role in developing and serving the Middlesex suburbs. The book is one of the Illustrated Histories of the London Underground, published in association with London's Transport Museum and London Underground. The series traces the development of each Tube line from its initial planning and construction to its present day operation.
