Exploring Writing and Play in the Early Years

This work explores the potential relationship between young children's socio-dramatic play and the development of writing. The authors show how the purposeful and authentic nature of play experiences offers a perfect location for the meaningful experience of writing and the exploration of a wide variety of forms of text. Case studies of children and their work are included, so that the reader can see how children from three to eight develop competence as writers.
