The Encyclopedia of Falconry

This encyclopedia contains some 1500 terms and idioms relating to or connected with falconry, with explanations, derivations and notes. It is illustrated with photographs, figures and reproductions of old and antiquarian prints and is believed to be the first attempt to catalogue and review the complete English language of falconry as used between the late Middle Ages and the present day. The book brings together the in-house names for hawks, tools and the methods and concepts used in falconry. The result is a unique, often oblique look at the falconer's art over the past 500 years or more.
