The Working Countryside, 1862-1945

The broad theme of this book is work in the Shropshire countryside from the advent of photography to the end of World War II. The authors have gathered together a wide range of photographs which capture all aspects of farm life. From these the reader sees long forgotten farming methods which had changed little for hundreds of years until the advent of the steam engine and the internal combustion engine which revolutionised farming during this century.
