Swimming (Skills of the Game)

A collection of photographs by Heinz Kluetmeier commemorating one hundred years of amateur swimming in America. The first United States Amateur Swimming Championships were conducted on August 25, 1888 in Travers Island, New York. We celebrate these one hundred years with United States Swimmings' National Championships in Austin, Texas, on August 8th through 13th, 1988.The intent of this collection is to share with the family and friends of swimming a few of the many special moments captured by Heinz Kluetmeier's photography.This project is made possible by the interest and generosity of the photographer and of the National Swimming Foundation.
