The WTO and Agriculture (Critical Perspectives on the Global Trading System and the WTO series, 2)
Description:
Anderson (economics, U. of Adelaide, Australia and an economist with the Development Research Group of the World Bank) and Josling (emeritus, Stanford Institute for International Studies, Stanford U., Calif.) have collected previously published articles on agricultural trade policy from the period of the GATT to the present. The 19 articles of v.1 concern the growth of agricultural protectionism; domestic policies and international trade distortions; the effects of trade-distorting policies; and the GATT negotiations and agricultural policies that preceded the Uruguay Round in 1994. Volume Two presents 20 articles on the Uruguay Round agreement on agriculture and on sanitary and phytosanitary measures; GATT/WTO agricultural trade dispute resolution; and new negotiations and issues. Eleven of the articles in both volumes were authored or co-authored by the editors. The articles are reproduced in facsimile, with continuous pagination. There is a name index but no subject index.
