A Cut Above the Rest

When Dodie Fanshaw goes to stay with her daughter Elena, she is expecting a sedate village on the banks of the River Thames, but then a mermaid clambers out of the river and into Elena's garden. Well, not a mermaid exactly, but a mysterious, sopping-wet girl. When they call on Elena's neighbor, novelist Rick Wilbraham, they find Anna, his girlfriend, hysterically clinging to Rick's lifeless body.
