Race with death

Race with Death is a devastatingly moving account about the Bosnian war. Written by a retired doctor who volunteered her services at a hospital in Sarajevo during the height of the conflict, it relates the experiences of patients she treated. These 22 individual accounts of ordinary men, women and children, describe stories of heroism and selfless sacrifice, pain and suffering, stoical fortitude and stubbornness in the face of indescribable aggression - persecuted because of their faith. They are testimony to the brutality inflicted upon a nation that refused to surrender, whose people bore untold traggedy yet remained undowed.
