Profitability, Mechanization and Economies of Scale

This work presents two major innovations. First, it introduces a theory of profitability to assess the impact of mechanization, economies of scales, and the combination of mechanization with economies of scales. Secondly, it uses plant level data and case studies to illustrate the theory, its combination and assessment applied to the working and management of plants.
