Description:
Product Description Do you believe in ghosts? Will works at rumored-to-be haunted Antoine's Restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans. When Will finally figures out how he knows Elle, his world turns upside down as he discovers a deep connection to her that spans generations.Mary Walsh brings this prismatic fictional tale of romance, local legends, and history of The Crescent City together as both the backdrop to the story and a quaint character in and of itself.Praise for Fine Spirits Served Here"When someone asks you what the best part about New Orleans is, what do you say? Do you mention the most famous and legendary oysters from Antoine's Restaurant with a secret recipe that, so far, the public knows only to neither have bacon nor spinach? Or do you mention the ghost that haunts the Hotel Monteleone or the above ground graves that surround the Mortuary every Halloween? The right answer is that there is no right answer. New Orleans cannot be defined simply by one thing but is described as a multitude of different parts. To further learn how to explain all these aspects, the city turns to Mary Walsh, who manages through her novel Fine Spirits Served Here. Through this novel, Walsh combines literature with iconic New Orleans culture, food, and destinations." - Izzy Wollfarth, Where Y'At Magazine, New OrleansCover photo taken by the author's brother, Patrick Walsh, and used with permission from Antoine's Restaurant. From the Author The idea for this book came to me when my kids and I visited New Orleans in March 2018 and we went on a food tour and a ghost tour. The tour guides enlightened us with legendary tales and history lessons about The Crescent City. I was so intrigued that I wanted to create my own story. My three main characters are fiction, but many of the secondary and tertiary characters are based on real New Orleans natives. I hope to do justice for all of the local legends that I mention - the meeting place for Andrew Jackson and pirate Jean Lafitte, the ghost of William Faulkner who supposedly haunts Faulkner House Books, the image of "Touchdown Jesus" on the garden wall of St. Louis Cathedral...
