The Mabinogion

The Mabinogion is a cycle of Welsh legends, originally collected in the Red Book of Hergest. This edition was originally published in 1877 by noble woman, industrialist, and linguist, Lady Charlotte Guest. The name Mabinogion translates as "tales of youth", though originally this applied to a few of the stories, Lady Guest applied to all of the works within this book. The works are based on historical figures and events from dark ages Wales and Britain, with added supernatural and folkloric elements. Within the works there are primal Celtic mythology and folklore. The first five stories making up the Welsh portion of Arthurian legends.
