The I AM statements of Jesus

One popular aspect of Jesus' teaching is His description of Himself using the formula "I am..." Important lessons have been learned from studying the ways in which He is the light of the world, the good shepherd and so on. But what exactly did Jesus mean by the phrase "I am"? The words in Greek are ego eimi and when we examine the way Jesus uses this phrase, we discover that He is doing much more than making descriptive statements about Himself. This book explores how Jesus uses the expression ego eimi in John's Gospel and considers something of what it means.
