When Autumn Leaves Start to Fall: Living with Lewy Body Dementia

The lovely song, "Autumn Leaves", by Johnny Mercer ends "But I miss you most of all, my darling, when autumn leaves start to fall." Those words always invoked a feeling of melan-choly: the end of summer, the forecast of a cold, long winter. But when my husband developed Lewy Body dementia, they meant even more. The falling leaves symbolized the slow shedding of his memories, his reason, his health - and finally his life.
