Magic Medicine: Homeopathy As Shamanism

Shamanism is known as a potent, sometimes primitive, form of healing. Homeopathy is rather misunderstood and considered arcane and difficult to grasp. In this book, the similarity between homeopathy and the core elements of Shamanism is carefully and compellingly explained. In the process we visit the animal, plant, and mineral kingdoms where homeopathic remedies are sourced and shamans find healing power. We also learn how remedies are discovered and the painstaking process for making them. We learn how trance and journey as well as ancestors figure into both systems. While there are differences as well as an essential unity between the two systems, Nature is the underlying unity and power. The way she is accessed and brought into form is different within each system. The homeopath’s pills are the breath of the shaman, and each encodes the power of nature. Homeopathic patients take them into their mouths; the shaman breathes healing into the patient’s body. In each case we hope for the deepest effect, the most transformative experience possible. In each case we have done no harm, and perhaps, have done the greatest service to the patient. As the healed life radiates out to its immediate contacts and to the world, we have contributed positively to a more sane and holy environment.
