A String of Beads: and other stories

Katherine L. Chew has written a collection of hilarious, heartwarming, and poignant stories about her childhood in China in the years preceding and during WWII, her emigration to the United States as the bride of a Chinese-American Army officer, and her subsequent adventures trying to live life as an American while retaining her Chinese cultural identity and raising a family.
