They lived through the anti-immigrant bias, the horror of World War I, the lawless environment of the Roaring Twenties, bootlegging and the economic deprivation of the Great Depression. Al fought at Guadalcanal in World War II. Their son fought in Vietnam. The love for each other endured with a marriage that lasted seventy five years.
