Immigration in the 1950s and '60s was full of promise and adventure, but carried with it unexpected dangers. This memoir tells the story of how immigrants from Slovakia learn to thrive in a new world after they and their ancestors lived with the effects of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Slovakian history, World War I, and World War II.
