The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse

"The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse" is attributed to the ancient Greek fabulist Aesop, born circa 620 BC. It was conveyed through the ages; by the twelfth century, medieval Europe had written copies. Jean de La Fontaine included it in his first collection of tales in 1668 in France. In most versions, the safety of a humble abode and contentment in the simple life are championed.
