Beyond Honor

The military operates in a different way than civilian life. We don't realize this until?a family member joins the Armed Forces. Then, you become a part of their family. The Military becomes very protective of their service men and women. If they lose a family member during combat the truth is hard to come by for the family back home. Beyond Honor: A Promise Kept is a true story about the author, James Butler, and the love?he has for his family and Country. It tells about a promise the author made to his son SGT Jacob Lee Butler before he left for Iraq and how he would let nothing stand in the way of keeping his promise. As the author boarded a plane for the first time in his life, to go to Iraq, he was able to keep his final promise. On October 10, 2003, six months after his son gave his life for his Country. Beyond Honor: A Promise Kept is about a boy growing up with four brothers and one day he joins the Army as a surprise to parents and family. With all our support he said he wanted to see the world and make a difference.
