Elsewhere (Indian Summer's End, 1)

Poetry. ELSEWHERE, the first book in Jones's Whitmanesque collection of long poems, Indian Summer's End, is a film in the form of a poem—a lyrically confessional fever dreamscape in which the dissolution of a relationship, a planet, a moment are equally worthy of fixation. Low suns outside dusty windowsills might be rising or setting, and elsewhere is at home in the confusion before things take shape. The descent is wistful, the cadence frantically musical, as the poem's mouthpiece struggles to discern nostalgia from nightmare before losing "what's left / of everything / we've never known."
