When Edward and NaNaLee Gill decided to take their family from the Deep South-north to Ohio for a better life; it was a twist of fate that brought the family members; divorce, murder, and even suicide to a woman who did not want to wait on death. While the 1965 civil rights movement for voter rights in Alabama was underway; a private detective team of a black man named TommyLucy Gill and a white man named Omar Latimore experience their own obstacles of segregation in the racial south as they begin their "man hunt" for Brody Roy for the kidnapping of his two small children. Unbeknownst to the team, someone else was on his trail for the alleged stabbing death of his girlfriend.
