A Light on the Runway

In 1955 the author flew off from Wisconsin with her new husband, Don, in their two-seater Piper Super Cub named "Grasshopper." Headed for British Guiana, South America, they would set up a diamond-mining operation and their home in the wilds along the Ireng River, 250 miles from the coast. They brought a daughter and son into this primitive world, here on the border of Brazil, to share an unusual life in the lush green valley they named Marquis.A Light on the Runway is the woman's side of the adventure described by her husband in his book, Bush Pilot in Diamond Country.
