When the legendary former San Francisco 49ers coach passed away on July 30, 2007, at age 75, he was fondly remembered across the nation as one of the game's great innovators. A Pro Football Hall of Famer and two-time NFL Coach of the Year, Walsh led the 49ers to 102 wins and three Super Bowl titles in 10 seasons as head coach in the 1980?s. His signature West Coast offense and contributions to minority coaching forever changed the NFL. His coaching tree of former assistants is a ?Who's who?? of NFL head coaches. Former 49ers star Ronnie Lott remarked that his first head coach will ?Forever be cemented with the likes of George Halas, Paul Brown, and Vince Lombardi as the best ever.?
