Integrating Reading, Writing, and Words Lessons (Grades 1-3)

Integrating Reading, Writing and Words Lessons will help teachers present subjects and topics in an integrated way. This resource will guide first-, second-, and third-grade teachers who want to integrate a topic or theme into their daily reading, writing and working with words or phonics lessons. Teachers will be introduced to a framework that enables students to build appropriate background knowledge for independent reading. In addition, Integrating Reading, Writing and Words Lessons teaches vocabulary in the prereading or prewriting steps and helps teachers provide vicarious experiences through read alouds.
