Description:
At last Pauli Golden has found the perfect life and the perfect job. She's living in Connecticut with her lover, Chessie Anaya, and is a partner in a suburban fitness club which she manages. The tragic events in San Franciso that had turned her life upside down, seem far away. Her partners and the club members are a complex combination of health and wealth. They are medical and business professionals and community leaders. They are also personally diverse, including gays and lesbians and fundamentalist Christians who either work out professionally-many are competitive bodybuilders-or for their health including a disabled group of members. Everything is great until one day when a sick note is found just inside the front door-a threat of violence. Maybe a crack pot, Pauli thinks until more notes appear. Then one day she discovers two people dead-inside the gym. It looks like a possible murder-suicide, but Pauli has a bad feeling that appearances may be deceiving. The reasonable little community at the gym is coming apart. When violence escalates, Pauli's too-perfect job becomes a perfect horror.
