Hum of Hushed Voices

When a psychologist is found dead in his office, Detective Sergeant Donald Salington believes the gunshot wound to the head was self-inflicted. Darby Jacobs, a rookie patrol officer and former patient of the deceased, is not so sure. She investigates and uncovers evidence of murder. Although warned to stay away, Darby continues to search for answers, and the rapport she develops with witnesses earns her an anonymously delivered patient file and an invitation to the murderer's home. As Darby fights to stay alive, she confronts fond and bitter memories of the late doctor and finds herself understanding the killer's motive more than she ever thought possible.
