Alden Tinnin is a native Arizonan. I was born in Jerome and grew up in Ajo. After graduating from high school, I worked for Phelps Dodge as a brakeman and was a locomotive engineer for seven years. I have also earned a Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychology from the University of Guam. In addition to these degrees I have done post-graduate work at several universities. In 1995, I retired after 34 years as an educator. During that time, I was a teacher, counselor, administrator and consultant for counseling services and programs. My career in education started with my teaching in an elementary school, then to junior high and high school. For the last 19 years of my career in education, I was a college counselor and Director of Student Services on the Lake Havasu Campus.I have also worked in a clinical setting (not as a patient), and for a period of time I had my own private practice. During my career I have also been involved in many civic projects. In Lake Havasu for example, I helped start Hospice of Havasu and the Havasu Crisis Line.I have always kept abreast of new techniques and developments in my profession. I have membership in many professional organizations pertaining to my profession. However, there is another side of me that is not just academic. I have a great sense of humor, good personality, love to entertain and I have a variety of hobbies that keep me out of bars and off the streets.
