The Dog Ate My Scriptures: Excuses, Agency, and Responsibility

In this new talk on CD, popular youth speaker John Hilton III invites Latter-day Saint teenagers to stop making excuses and start accepting responsibility for their actions. “While you are free to choose for yourself, you are not free to choose the consequences of your actions,” says Hilton. He teaches listeners the language of responsibility vs. the language of excuses. He also teaches the youth that we have a responsibility to prepare our hearts to feel the Spirit. In a fun and engaging way, he debunks the myth of “he made me so mad,” teaching the principle that we are responsible for how we feel.
