This is the first book of an ongoing series, which introduces the boy wonder Kazan and his adventures with the mysterious water conjuror Fawna, and a wise old explosives specialist/granny named Arbey, on an arid desert world teaming with ruffians and strange beasts. Kazan is the heir to the leader of Red Sand, a once peaceful tribe of nomads. Adversity befalls Red Sand and Kazan is forced to wander the desert world with his trusted eagle Kamushin, looking for his friend Elsie.
