The Cabochon Ring

Oxnard and Oxley shelter their sister Kitt from a deep, dark secret. They travel the countryside and perform acrobatic feats in exchange for coin or shelter. Their way of life changes inexorably when a rider crashes through the brush. An arrow protrudes from his shoulder and soldiers are in hot pursuit. It reminds the two brothers of a similar scene many years ago and they decide to help the wounded man. The injured man is Ruttgar von Hohenfels, who returned from war to find that his uncle has usurped his castle during his absence. The brothers pledge their allegiance to Ruttgar. As they help him recapture his birthright, Kitt teaches him the true meaning of love.
