Bibliography of American Literature

From its proposal in 1943 to its completion in 1991 a formidable group of bookmen beginning with William A. Jackson, James T. Babb, Clarence S. Brigham and David A. Randall oversaw the Lilly Endowment grant that funded much of the project. This august committee hired Jacob Blanck as the Research Director of the project. Under Blanck's leadership, his fellow editors and their assistants compiled 23,539 entries requiring more that 5200 pages to be published!
