OCHRE: an Online Cultural and Historical Research Environment

The OCHRE database system is an Online Cultural and Historical Research Environment that enables scholars to record, integrate, analyze, publish, and preserve their data. It provides a comprehensive framework for diverse kinds of information at all stages of research, from initial data acquisition through analysis, publication, and long-term archiving and curation of the data. Although OCHRE was originally designed to meet the needs of cultural and historical research, it can be used equally well in other academic disciplines. Its highly generic and flexible structure accommodates any observations and conceptual distinctions scholars might make in the course of their research, allowing them to retain their own terminology while integrating their information with information that has been recorded using different taxonomies.
