Retroviral Latency (Medical Intelligence Unit)

Devoted to the molecular/cellular determinants of retroviral gene expression, this text briefly covers the history of retroviruses before discussing the determinants of viral gene expression as influenced by the infected host cell. Particular attention is given to the control of viral transcription. The genetic organization of a representative from each of the subgroups of the complex retroviruses (lentiviruses, oncoviruses and spumaviruses) is described and differences among the subgroups compared. The book also explores the role that the infected host plays in controlling viral transcription.
