In Recital, Book 5 opens with an expressive Notturno by Valerie Roth Roubos, affording the chance to demonstrate beautifully sustained legato line, and other accomplishments, learned in earlier books. Equal-part duets by Bober (Rustic Dance), Olson (A Christmas Medley: Ukranian Bell Carol / What Child is This?), and McLean (Edward Elgar s Pomp and Circumstance, Op. 39, No. 1), expand the student s understanding of ensemble play, while four challenging new solos round out the repertoire.
