Prudence Crandall

First published in 1955, this widely acclaimed novel by Newbery Award-winning author Elizabeth Yates tells the inspiring true story of a young Quaker teacher name Prudence Crandall. The year is 1833, and Prudence Crandall opens a school for African American women in her town of Canterbury, Connecticut. That event creates a firestorm.
