To My Dear Friend : Oh, the Memories We've Made...
Description:
About the Author\nThe Grandparent Journals were the first in the series to be developed by creator Kathleen Lashier. Her Inspiration for question-a-day journals for family members came while teaching Kindergarten. She had asked her students to collect stories from their grandparents childhood memories to share with the class each day. Since only a few children had daily contact with their Grandparents, it became evident that this request for stories needed to come in the form of a little booklet that grandparents could fill out and return. In 1992, Kathleen developed this concept into two gift books, Grandma (and Grandpa) Tell Me Your Memories, and they were an instant hit for families who were looking for a simple way to preserve precious memories and stories about time past.
Now, 7 years later 17 different Memory Journals for other people and other life events are available, some written by people close to Kathleen and some by Lashier herself.
The authors goal in creating these books initially was to own her own business that would enable her to become a stay-at-home Mom. But soon it became evident that these books would make a real contribution to families nationwide and that has become the most thrilling part! To know that stories, memories, anecdotes, thoughts and feelings are being shared from one generation to the next, to know that family members are getting to know each other better through the communication that these journals inspire and to have created products that help other people write their story- that has become the thrilling part.
And Lashier did get to become a stay-at-home Mom, working in an office there and holding down the fort for their busy family. Kathleen and her husband, Jack, have two sons. Besides family and work, Kathleen is involved in her church as a deacon, praise music leader at youth activities and the weekly family night, and facilitates a Bible study. She is involved in a community Music Club, and volunteers at her former elementary school. She enjoys exercise, reading and travel, when she can find the time!
