HealthSmart High School: Emotional & Mental Health (Teacher Guide with CD and Set of 30 Student Workbooks)

HealthSmart High School: Emotional & Mental Health is part of ETR's comprehensive K-12 health education program that focuses on the essential concepts and skills students need to know and practice to adopt healthy behaviors. HealthSmart meets the National Health Education Standards and aligns to the CDC's Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT). HealthSmart focuses on the key areas of risk that confront children and youth today as identified by the CDC's National Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS). The program also draws on the cultural strengths of students and their families to support healthy behaviors and establish healthy social norms and expectations. HealthSmart High School: Emotional & Mental Health lessons and activities are tailored to the developmental capabilites of high school students. This unit offers sixteen 60- to 90-minute lessons covering the following topics: Dimensions of Health; Exploring Emotional Health; Taking Responsibility; Optimism & Positive Self-Talk; Understanding Stress; Ways to Manage Stress; Responding to Emotions in Healthy Ways; Skills for Effective Communication; Building Healthy Relationships; Dealing with Difficult Relationships; Coping with Loss & Grief; Managing Anger; Skills for Conflict Resolution; Goal Setting for Emotional Health, Understanding Mental Health Disorders; Getting Help for Mental Health Issues. The program includes a Teacher Guide (283 pages); a classroom set of 30 Student Workbooks (48 pages each); and a CD with PowerPoint and Masters.
