HealthSmart High School: HIV, STD & Pregnancy Prevention (Teacher Guide with CD and Set of 30 Student Workbooks)

HealthSmart High School: HIV, STD & Pregnancy Prevention is part of ETR's comprehensive K-12 health education program that focuses on the essential concepts and skills students need to know and practice to adopt healthy behaviors. HealthSmart meets the National Health Education Standards and aligns to the CDC's Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT). HealthSmart focuses on the key areas of risk that confront children and youth today as identified by the CDC's National Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS). The program also draws on the cultural strengths of students and their families to support healthy behaviors and establish healthy social norms and expectations. HealthSmart High School: HIV, STD & Pregnancy Prevention lessons and activities are tailored to the developmental capabilites of high school students. This unit offers fourteen 60- to-90-minute lessons covering the following topics: What Do You Know About Sex?; Respecting Sexual Differences; Understanding Sexual Risks & Responsibilities; Avoiding Pregnancy; STD: The Facts; HIV: The Facts; Influences on Sexual Choices; Assessing & Avoiding STD Risks; Getting Tested for HIV, Other STD & Pregnancy; Using Condoms; Negotiating Condom Use; Roleplay Practice: Saying NO to Unsafe Sex; My Commitment to Protect Myself; Advocating to Keep Friends Safe & Healthy. The program includes a Teacher Guide (240 pages); a classroom set of 30 Student Workbooks (40 pages each); and a CD with PowerPoint and Masters.
