The Organized Writer: A Brief Rhetoric
Description:
"The Organized Writer" aims to provide, as concisely as possible, all that a book can teach a college student about writing expository papers (the term "expository" is used broadly here to encompass most nonfiction prose). The book is brief so that its audience can spend as much time as possible on the activities that are most essential and instructive: writing, and talking about writing, in the classroom. Exercises at the end of each chapter follow the sequence of topics in the chapter and are designed not only to reinforce the various points and to allow students to test their grasp of the material, but, also, to be fun. Most of these exercises have been honed in class, and have proven to combine instruction and pleasure. Two appendixes are provided, one a glossary of usage and the other a guide to preparing and documenting research papers.
