The folktale recounted in this unit is of Maya Indian origin and is titled The Three Brothers and the Singing Toad. It is illustrated with clean line art that shows a hint of Mayan influence and will help hold your students' attention, as they begin their education in Mexican culture and family life. Complete follow up instructions and suggestions bring Mexican clothing and food, as well as Spanish vocabulary, to the forefront and help students produce their own picture book of the story.
